A Canvas course with French and Spanish resources is available year-round for 7th-grade students. 

 

Exploratory French and Spanish:

Exploratory French is an introduction to the French and Spanish languages.
Students will be able to: 

  1. Recite colors.

  2. Count to 30.

  3. Identify the letters and symbols of the alphabet.

  4. Spell their name in French/Spanish.

  5. Greet their peers and introduce themselves.

  6. Say how they are feeling.

  7. Research details about a French/Spanish country.

 

French 1:

French 1 introduces students to the French language. Proficiency in the language is the main goal. Listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills are developed. Correct pronunciation is emphasized as well as the acquisition of basic speech patterns and a small, practical vocabulary. Cultural material compares and contrasts French speaking countries and the United States. Students learn to speak, read, write, and listen within the range of a basic vocabulary.
