This course will help prepare students for the types of mathematical concepts they will see in Algebra I & II. We start off with a brief look at the number system and a review of previously learned mathematical concepts; then we move right into more complex processes like solving simple and complex equations with a single variable. This course should both challenge and further students' level of understanding for higher-level mathematical concepts and systems.
This is an upper-level math course, in which students will receive high school credit upon completion. In order to complete this course, students will need to demonstrate that they can conduct elementary operations and applications of the course content. The course content includes, but is not limited to: working with real number operations, linear equations and inequalities, relations and functions, nonlinear equations, etc. Possibly the greatest amount of time and effort, in this course, will be dedicated to factoring. I can not, and I will not, pass a student onto the next math class without grasping the mathematical process of factoring. This course may be a challenge to many students, but it will undoubtedly play a vital role in students' future math classes.
