8th grade Science:

During this course, students will focus on the science domains of Physical Science (kinetic and potential energy; speed, acceleration, and forces), Earth Science (weathering and erosion; soil; flooding and river formations; geologic time; plate tectonics and earthquakes), and Life Science (cells; genetics and heredity; adaptations). Throughout the course, students will learn important vocabulary, conduct inquiry based, real-life relevant experiments through hands-on opportunities and the use of technology.

Physical Science:

Forces and Motion (motion, forces, dynamics), The Universe (history of the universe, galaxy formation, stars), Energy and Waves (conservation of energy, transfer and transformation of energy, waves, thermal energy, electricity), and Study of Matter (classification of matter, atoms, periodic trends of the elements, bonding and compounds, reactions of matter). Throughout the course, students will learn important vocabulary, conduct inquiry based, real-life relevant experiments through hands-on opportunities and the use of technology.
