In 4th grade reading and writing, the instruction is based on the Common Core Standards.

In reading, the focus for students is finding appropriate text, comprehension, using higher level thinking skills and having meaningful discussions.

In writing, the focus for students is to write literary essays, narratives, opinion and informational pieces.
